Best Places to Play Roulette

The Rules of Roulette
Roulette is played by placing a bet on one or more of the betting areas of the table. The table consists of 3 columns, and 12 rows of numbers, and a variety of Outside Bets. Then a ball is dropped into a wheel with numbered slots. Each slot is also colored red, black, or green. The dealer spins the wheel and the ball eventually comes to rest on one of the numbered slots. There are many different bets available in roulette, and the payout system can be somewhat confusing. But as with all casino games, the dealer will determine your payout for you.

Optimal Online Roulette Strategy
One thing most people don't know about roulette is that the odds on all bets are the same (the exception being the Five-number bet, which so far as I know nobody ever makes). Whether you're betting odd/even, high/low, black/red, or making inside bets, this will not have a long term impact on your results. If you follow our advice you'll be playing European roulette with the 'la partage' rule (see our 'Best Places to Play' information below for more details on this rule), so you should try and restrict yourself to the even money bets.

Best Places to Play Roulette
The best places to play roulette online are at casinos that use Cryptologic software. These casinos offer the best odds around. For one thing they offer European roulette, which only has one zero as opposed to two (American roulette, by contrast, has a single zero and a double zero, which doubles the house edge). Furthermore Cryptologic casinos offer the 'la partage' rule, which means you get half of any even money wager back if the ball lands on zero. The Cryptologic games have a house edge of 1.35%, which is far and away the best you'll find. Remember: whatever you do, don't play American Roulette. The house edge is over 5%, and there are far better games out there. Here are a few of our favorite casinos that use Cryptologic software:
